Professional Learning Grants

The Ellison Foundation offers Professional Learning Grants to teams of teachers (e.g., grade level or subject matter) dedicated to improving their instructional practice through a self-designed professional learning plan rather than externally prescribed professional development. Professional Learning Grants are awarded to teams of teachers that propose a collaborative professional learning plan designed to help them learn and integrate instructional strategies that are highly effective. These instructional strategies are rooted in best practice(s), and are directly related to the unique needs of their student population.

Teams of teachers should consider applying if they:

  • Have an innovative idea to create engaging and impactful professional learning that promotes collaborative inquiry, teacher effectiveness, and sustained commitment to professional growth.
  • Have the background and experience to complete the project successfully.
  • Are eager to learn and integrate new instructional strategies or approaches.
  • Are interested in observing and reflecting upon the effects of a particular teaching strategy on your students.
  • Are prepared to quantify the results of your professional learning.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

The Ellison Foundation considers applications for financial support from educators who:

  • Are employed by a K-12 public school in Washington State.
  • Are currently certified to teach in Washington State.
  • Have the background and experience to complete the project successfully.
  • Have the support of your school administration.
  • Are working in collaboration with your grade level or subject team.
  • Are willing to work in collaboration with the Ellison Foundation and share your ideas with others.
